Shared Inquiry

Shared Inquiry is a distinctive method of learning in which participants search for answers to fundamental questions raised by a text.

Goals of Shared Inquiry: To develop self-reliant thinkers, readers, and writers.

Norms for Shared Inquiry Discussion:

  • Come prepared
  • One speaker at a time - no calling out!
  • No "put downs"
  • Listen to each others point of view
  • Challenge the response, not the person
  • Respect the responses, even of you disagree
  • Enjoy the inquiry process

Directed Notes - questions for each piece of literature will be provided ahead of time, so that you will be able to participate in the Shared Inquiry Discussion.
